Not very good being my first coded game and all.
I added an MP3 to it just for irony, so now it is 8 megs. I was going to add crawling.mp3 but then I realized I don't have that.
Thanks to Bisse, JW and Kval for helping me figure stuff out.
Z shoots, X shields, directions to move, R to restart
Based on this image from a long time ago:
Didn't have time to add the flashes and blood and effects though.
It has a lot of problems; I forgot to put on his arms for instance.
That was awesome, first time I played was like boom boom what the fuck trrrrrrrt trrrrrrrt aah I'm dead. Could obviously use work, but it's awesome.

I had to REALLY plan this out. I had 15 minutes to make the sound files! Forgive the main "menu". I had little story planned for the main character if I had time. I ran out of time!
Enjoy it if you can:

That's the neatest concept this compo has seen so far, but it just SCREAMS for powerups.
Awesome man.

for a first coded game it's actually really good, 3 hours or not :S my first I dunno how many games were way shitter than that. And your 10 min edit is great
My entry:
hOLY SHIT
Download:

it's so bad I had to hide it with crazy images
Also reallly nice, but but but death explosions please.

Oh good job guys. I liked the beam in your's JW that was pretty sweet, and Lupi's planet jumping was cool but I got stuck too much
Oh yeah and here's mine.
Attack Of The Rainbow Puppies
http://members.westnet.com.au/deadheat/3hr.zip
Left Mbutton=Shoots
Right= Nades
w,a,s,d moves.
yeh.
I spent an extra 10 minutes because I forgot to add sounds in. So ima big cheat really!
And yours was pretty neat Rad! I liked it.
Great style, except for those unholy explosions. Could also do with powerups, more enemies and more weapons.

Wow DH that was really good for three hours, but yeah, the game just closes and I wanted to play again.
But other than that it is really good, reminds me a lot of Joust for some reason (not gameplay wise... uh, w/e). Some old school feel to it imo
Radnom you've some really cool visuals going on but I can't seem to find a way to survive very long. Like I can only get to the second enemy type.

IMPORTANT
This time we really have to make a nice merged file/menu from where you can check all the games. Since there is already a shitload of entries, it could be really awesome. A nice picture of each game, info if it changes resolution, creator, etc.

Uh, if you do that please use my corrected version, the other one is really big because of that unfunny
mp3 joke and a big part of the game is broken. It didn't really take me long to fix it, probably about 15 minutes. So, yeah.
Edit: Deleted the old link.
Uploading the new.

Deadheat - OOOO GAME EXIT OF DOOOOOM! I like it, and I love the sound effects!
Radnom - That was disturbing, and apparently I like to be disturbed. It took me a minute to realize that the things shooting at me were hairy arses!
Hey
If we post these some place or make a compilation, can we have another 30 minutes to work on it after the contest is over. Make it a 3/30 game?

You can work on it as long as you want, the version that will be judged is already entered.

Shit, well I just updated it with fixed jumping!!!!!!
As long as everyone remembers it being a pain in the ass to jump, or I can break it again!
Wait - I broke it and reuploaded it - the original crap is here!
http://darthlupi.com/projects/3_hour_game_judge_me.exe
And the one with solid jumping is here:

Hey
I joined Poppenkast forum today. My entry is called "Vectro", it was actually a school assignment but I decided to make it in 3 hours as a challenge, so I could submit it here. It's good practice! I look forward to joining more competitions.

Heh nice game 2dcube. I played through it twice before i realised it was actually looping
The weapons are pretty neat, but how they change randomly is a bit annoying sometimes

That is pretty cool mr 2d cube. It is interesting to see a game from you that doesn't have the token graphics style you use so well.
Have you considered expanding on the theme of rotating weapons, or do you feel it has been explored enough?
